What Is Invisalign Treatment?

Invisalign treatment uses a series of virtually invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that allow you to smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign aligners are custom made with 3D computer imaging technology, and the treatment has been proven effective.

Benefits of Invisalign Aligners

Not only are you able to straighten your teeth with clear aligners instead of traditional metal braces, Invisalign trays are also removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment—and basic dental care, like brushing and flossing, is no problem.

Additionally, Invisalign is more comfortable than traditional braces, with no metal or wires. Not only does this feel better, it also usually means you spend less time in your doctor’s office getting adjustments.

Invisalign treatment also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete. This helps you confirm the effectiveness of the treatment on your smile, and results in an overall positive experience from start to finish.

Invisalign vs. Traditional Braces

There are many reasons that Invisalign may be the right choice for you when compared with metal braces. Your doctor will go over this service with you during your consultation and will evaluate your overall health, candidacy for restorative dentistry, expected treatment time, insurance coverage, and expected out-of-pocket cost.

As far as the basic process goes, Invisalign is a set of plastic aligners that straighten your teeth over time. You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.

As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move—little by little, week by week—until they have straightened to their final positions.

You’ll visit Comprehensive Dentistry about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages nine to 15 months—and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30—but both will vary from case to case.

Invisalign as Part of Your Oral Health Plan

While many of our patients with crooked teeth tend to explore services like veneers, not all straightening and spacing issues can be resolved using these methods. In these cases, dentists may recommend more intentional straightening services, including Invisalign.

Make an appointment today to determine whether Invisalign’s align technology is right for you. Treatment times vary from one patient to another, and Invisalign cost will depend on your wear time, among other factors. Comprehensive Dentistry can consult with you on the best course of action for your oral health. Contact our office and start your journey to a healthy, beautiful new smile!
